Speculoos Apple Crumble

Hello everybody!

Last week I shared with you the recipe of the very delicious speculoos and today I will show you how to use them to make an amazing apple crumble. It’s a very simple recipe but one of the best for the season and so addictive too! Whenever I make speculoos I always reserve some to make this crumble because they add an amazing flavor to the traditional recipe.

I like to add more gingerbread spice in my crumble (because more spice the better) and also some tonka bean on the apples because it brings that delicious vanilla/caramel flavor. It’s a really great twist that I recommend you to try.

Let’s start baking!

Ingredients:

  • 150 g speculoos (Check out my recipe here)
  • 70 g (1/4 cup) sugar
  • 60 g (1/4 cup) butter
  • 40 g (1/3 cup) ground almonds
  • 1 tsp gingerbread spice
  • 5 apples
  • 1 package of vanilla sugar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp tonka bean

Preparation:

1- In a food processor, add the speculoos and start mixing until they are reduced to powder. Then add the ground almonds, sugar and butter and mix until you get a crumbly mixture. Reserve in the fridge and preheat the oven at 360 F/ 180 C.

2- Peel and dice the apples and place them in a mixing bowl. Add the vanilla sugar, sugar and the tonka. Mix well.

3- In an oven dish or in ramekins add the apples and cover with the crumble. Bake for 40 min, let them cool down and enjoy on its own or with some vanilla ice cream.

Another very easy dessert recipe! I love crumbles with speculoos because they are so much more flavorful and perfect for the Fall season. A great twist on a classic dessert!
