Nutella & Strawberry Heart Pies

Hello everybody!

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and I thought I would share a quick treat to make for the occasion! Whether you are single, in a relationship or just celebrating with friends, there is no reason not to treat yourself on Valentine’s Day.

I am a sweet tooth so I cannot picture this celebration without any sorts of sweets or desserts, which is why I planned a delicious treat for the occasion! I always say that there is nothing easier than meals or desserts with puff pastry and that’s true once again. For this recipe, all you need is 3 ingredients and you’ll have the most delicious pie!

I am a big fan of chocolate and especially nutella so when I thought of making a pie, I thought of nutella right away! But because it is Valentine’s Day, I also thought that I should add something red or pink as these are Valentine’s Day’s colours, so I added some strawberries.

Nutella and strawberries are absolutely delicious together and the fluffy and buttery puff pastry add even more decadence to this pie. It literally takes minutes to make and these little heart shaped pies will delight everyone!

Let’s start baking!

  • 1 roll of puff pastry
  • Nutella
  • Fresh strawberries
  • 1 egg yolk

1- Preheat the oven at 355 F. Rolled out the puff pastry and cut large heart shapes in it as well as smaller hearts.

2- Spread nutella inside the heart leaving the sides clean. Add slices of strawberries and cover with another heart of puff pastry. Press the edges and seal by pressing the dough with a fork. Add a smaller heart on top and brush with the egg yolk.

3- Place the heart pies in the oven and bake for about 15-20 min. The puff pastry should have risen and have a nice golden colour. Let them cool down and eat them still slightly warm!

These heart shapes pies are so easy to make and are the best treats possible on Valentine’s Day. I think this is a great dessert idea whether you just want to treat yourself, your friends or your loved one.
